Food, Love & Nostalgia.

Love and memories are so intrinsically linked with food, not just about the taste or look but the connection that it creates. Although I understand that negative memories can be linked too, I definitely have had my fair share, but I will be looking at this at a later date.

So many memories are connected to food...but not always grand lavish affairs. I am lucky enough to have eaten in some glorious restaurants and had amazing food, spent with those closest to me but those moments that I truly connect with are nostalgic snapshots of my life that are all wrapped up with a whole host of food and love.

Here are a few of my fond memories:

  • Pick-your-own strawberries in the summer, wearing dresses and my favourite red sandals (aged 4 to 10 predominantly)

  • Thick doorstep toast with butter and blackcurrant jam (every time I smile and think of my grandad, he was a massive fan)

  • My first oyster on a campsite in the south of France (beautifully fresh and straight from the sea, as were we)

  • Butterfly cakes (love the making, giving and eating)

  • Houmous Friday with my antenatal gang

  • Nan’s rock cakes warm from the oven (crisp on the outside and super fluffy inside)

  • Christmas Eve Tapas

  • After school scones smiles (my kids coming home hungry - fresh and warm without butter)

Now I know the memories may sound simplistic but you cannot choose what or how you connect, they choose you. What are your fond food memories?

Be kind to yourself and take your time to enjoy food fully...see events below.

See you at the table.
