What do you love about Christmas?
I always think of a relaxed time with friends & family whilst eating & drinking.
Initially I was very worried about Christmas with allergies (I am coeliac & am sensitive to nuts). I remember my first one being filled with dread, thinking about all of the foods that I couldn't eat and the substitutions always felt like a compromise. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the food that I wanted to eat, in effect I was jealous which seems ludicrous....I am an adult, it must be so difficult as a child to watch your friends eat treats or even everyday food that you cannot eat, or even touch or breath depending upon severity.
Flipside is the joy from giving food options and a way to belong with the people around you, it sounds silly but, it really is about enjoying the same as others. It takes a little extra planning and organisation plus a few (make that many) failed recipe attempts along the way but Lovely Bread & Stuff is about enabling freshly made foods to be enjoyed by everyone.
So much to enjoy so it really is about enjoying those foods fully that you can eat and not focusing on those you can’t. There are so many wonderful foods to enjoy.
Everyone can eat well, including those with food allergies, over the season...quality is far more important than quantity.
However you celebrate the holidays let there be love & kindness.
It's a busy month over here at Lovely Bread Towers! Not only have I been baking and prepping for Christmas, but I've been putting together some plans for the New Year. You'll be delighted to hear that I'll be doing various events in the coming weeks, both with Lovely Bread hat on and also in my other guises - Table Stories and as a private chef. All of my events are tailored to be allergy-friendly - this means that you can socialise safe in the knowledge that you won't be eating something you'll regret!
